Nitch Privacy Policy

Nitch ("we", "us") is a social app for logging and discovering real-world experiences. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. By using Nitch you agree to this policy.

Information we collect

• Account — email address and password (passwords are stored hashed by our auth provider, Supabase).
• Profile — username, display name, bio, taste/vibe tags, and any avatar you upload.
• Activity you create — logs, ratings, notes, photos, want-to items, comments, and likes. Logs may include a place name and its approximate location (latitude/longitude, city, country).
• Location — when you grant permission, your device location is used to find nearby places and surface relevant suggestions. It is used while you use the app and is not continuously tracked in the background.
• Contacts (optional) — if you choose to find friends from your contacts, phone numbers are hashed on your device before anything leaves it. We only ever receive an irreversible fingerprint, never the phone numbers or names in your address book. You can decline this and still use Nitch.
• Payments — if you buy or host paid experiences, payment card details are collected and processed directly by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number. If you host paid experiences, Stripe also collects identity and payout information (such as your name, date of birth, and bank details) directly, to verify you and send you payouts.
• Calendar (optional) — if you choose to add an experience to your calendar, Nitch requests write access to create that one event. We do not read your existing calendar entries.
• Push token — if you enable notifications, a device push token so we can deliver them.

How we use your information

• To provide the core app: your profile, feed, friend graph, and experiences.
• To personalize discovery and suggestions based on your activity and taste.
• To process ticket purchases and host payouts.
• To send notifications you've opted into.
• To keep the service safe and prevent abuse.

Third parties we share with

We use a small set of service providers to operate Nitch:

• Supabase — database, authentication, and file storage (United States).
• Stripe — payment processing and payouts.
• Google Places — place names and details for the places you search.
• Anthropic — generates personalized suggestions using limited signals about your activity (categories, ratings, recent places, city) without your name or email.
• Expo — delivery of push notifications.

We do not sell your personal information.

Your choices and rights

• Delete your account — go to Settings → Delete Account. This permanently removes your account, profile, logs, photos, tickets, and associated data. This action cannot be undone.
• Permissions — you can revoke contacts, location, camera, photo, and notification access at any time in your device settings.
• Access or correction — you can edit your profile in-app, or contact us for any other request.

Nitch is operated in and intended for users in the United States. If you contact us from elsewhere, we'll still do our best to help with your request.

Data retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we remove your profile and content from our systems, and disconnect any Stripe payout account you set up as a host. Some records may be retained where required by law or for legitimate business needs — for example, our payment processor (Stripe) retains transaction and payout records to meet financial, tax, and anti-fraud obligations. Residual copies may persist in encrypted backups until they are overwritten on our normal rotation.

Children

Nitch is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

Changes

We may update this policy. Material changes will be reflected by the "last updated" date above.
